A Chlorhexidine Gluconate surgical hand wash which is both mild on the skin and highly effective in reducing microbial counts on the skin.

An increased dilution (20% solution) of Microshield 4 Chlorhexidine Surgical Hand wash compared to a lower concentration (8% solution) of Dove Brand and Ivory Brand soaps was used.Volunteers were assessed from day 2 through 6 and again on day 8 for skin cracking, scaling and erythema. Results indicate Microshield 4 Chlorhexidine Surgical Hand wash is a very mild  product.
